Magnetic button with elastic return

Within 130 px the button moves toward the pointer. Move away, and it returns on a spring with a small overshoot.

Linear interpolation toward the pointer, and a spring for the way home

  • Two speedsThe button closes 12 percent of the distance on each frame, and the label shifts a little further than the button. When the pointer leaves, a spring takes both home.
