Legible navigation: intent, preview, handoff

The menu shows the destination before you leave. Move toward a section and a preview of its pages opens, move across it to scrub between them, and click to let the preview grow into the page. Show reasoning lists what the model sees.

A menu that reads intent from the pointer and shows the page before you go

  • IntentAttention is shared between the menu items by the pointer's distance to each, with nothing as one of the options. A menu opens when the pointer has slowed down on an item, and stays open while the pointer aims at the preview.
  • PreviewThe preview is the page itself, drawn smaller. It is built when intent is read and never on page load.
  • HandoffA click on the preview lets it become the page with a View Transition. A plain link fades.
