Bar study: Tittle

The dot over the i in the wordmark shows where the attention of the bar is. At rest it is on the i. Move the pointer toward a menu item and the dot leaves the logo and lands under that item.

The dot of the i, cut out of the typeface at runtime and moved by a spring

  • WhyLogo, explanation and navigation become one object. The first thing a visitor sees reacts to their hand.
  • RiskA moving logo becomes a gimmick if it moves too much. The dot leaves only when one item clearly leads, and it snaps the last 0.25 px, so the wordmark is whole at rest.
  • How it is madeThe page draws the letter i with and without its dot at ten times the size and subtracts one from the other, so the dot that travels is the typeface's own.
