How Zibaldone is built
  1. Search is Zibaldone’s index: every word is matched from its start, a match in a title counts more than one in the text, and each result shows the words around the match.
  2. Related notes come from Zibaldone’s on-device engine, which runs in a Web Worker. It turns every paragraph into hashed words and letter groups and fits a latent space with a randomized SVD, so notes about the same topic are found even when they use different words. Each result says which words it shares.
  3. A link is a title in double square brackets. The side panel lists the links from a note and the links to it, and the graph lays out every note and link with Zibaldone’s force layout.
  4. ⌘K opens the command palette, which ranks notes and commands with Zibaldone’s scorer. Export writes every note as a markdown file in one zip, with Zibaldone’s zip writer, in the browser.
  5. Each note’s text is a Y.Text, so two people can write in the same note at once. The notes sync encrypted over P14’s relay, with the key in the link after the #. When a member is removed from the workspace, the notes move to a new key: a signed record in the old document gives this device the new workspace key in a sealed envelope (zib/move.mjs), and the page opens on it with the same note. The removed person’s page says who removed them.
