Zibaldone workspace (P27)

The Zibaldone workspace puts the writing, the plan, the notes and the chat of one project in one window, opened with one link. The sample is a design studio's spring catalog.

The link holds a key after the #, and each of the four tools makes its own encrypted document from that key. Anyone with the link opens the whole workspace, with nothing to sign up for. New workspace makes a new key and a new set of sample documents.

Moving the work between the tools

  • In the writing, put the caret in a paragraph and select Discuss. The chat opens with the paragraph attached to your next message.
  • In the writing, select Make a task. The plan opens with a new task at the top of Todo, which keeps the words it was made from.
  • A task made from the writing has Open the document, which goes back to the writing.
  • In the notes, select Discuss to open the chat with the note attached.

The sidebar switches between the four tools. Each tool stays open in the background, so its sync keeps running while you work in another.

How the tools talk

Each tool runs in its own frame and sends the workspace a short message when the work should move, with postMessage. The workspace and the tools accept a message only from the same site.

How Prototype docs is built

The pages are written in Markdown and built into these pages and an index of 154 sections. The assistant answers from the index, and every answer names the sections it was taken from.
