Zibaldone chat (P26)

Zibaldone chat is an encrypted chat for a team, where a message can point at the work it is about. The sample has two channels for a printed catalog, #catalog and #print.

Messages next to the work

Select Refer to the work to attach a paragraph of the catalog brief or a task from the plan to your message. The paragraph or the task is shown with the message, so the reader sees what it is about without asking. Write @ and a name to mention someone, and select Reply in thread to answer one message beside the channel. Enter sends a message, and Shift with Enter starts a new line. While someone writes, the others see their name above the field.

Encryption

The channels and messages are encrypted in your browser with a key that is only in the link, after the #. A browser never sends that part of a link to a server. The relay stores and forwards the encrypted updates, so it cannot read a message. It sees the name each device connects with.

Signed messages

Each device makes its own Ed25519 key in the browser and signs every message it sends. The other devices check the signature. A message that was changed after it was signed is marked. Each device also remembers the first key it sees for a name. A later message under that name with another key is marked, with a note to compare the safety number.

The safety number

The side panel shows a safety number for you and each other person: 60 digits in 12 groups, made from both keys with the method Signal uses. Both screens show the same digits. Read them to each other in person or on a call, and select They match when they do. From then on, you know the messages under that name come from that person's device.

How Prototype docs is built

The pages are written in Markdown and built into these pages and an index of 154 sections. The assistant answers from the index, and every answer names the sections it was taken from.
