Zibaldone notes (P25)

Zibaldone notes is the notebook from Zibaldone, the writing app at zibaldone.page, shared by two people. The sample is a design studio's notes on a printed catalog, with 14 notes and the links between them.

Search matches every word from its start, so recyc finds recycled. Search ranks a note higher when the match is in its title than when it is in its text. Each result shows the words around the match, with the matching letters marked.

For the open note, the side panel lists up to five notes about the same topic. The engine runs on your device in a Web Worker. It turns every paragraph into its words and the groups of letters inside them, and it fits a latent space with a randomized SVD. Notes that share a topic are found even when they use different words. Each result lists the words it shares with the open note.

A link is the title of another note in double square brackets, such as [[Nordlys Print]]. The side panel lists the links from the open note and the notes that link to it. The graph shows every note and every link, laid out with Zibaldone's force layout, and a note with more links is drawn larger.

The command palette

Press ⌘K (Ctrl K on Windows) to open the command palette. It ranks the notes and three commands by what you type: a new note, the graph and the export. Use the arrow keys to move and Enter to open.

Two people and the export

Each note's text is stored as a shared text, so two people can write in the same note at once. Your caret stays next to the same words while the other person types. The notes are encrypted in the browser with a key that is only in the link, and the relay stores only the encrypted updates. Export writes every note as a markdown file in one zip, in your browser.

How Prototype docs is built

The pages are written in Markdown and built into these pages and an index of 154 sections. The assistant answers from the index, and every answer names the sections it was taken from.
